This sliding window lock is constructed of extruded aluminum with a non-marring vinyl insert and a steel thumbscrew and it comes in a milled aluminum finish. The design of this lock is manufactured to fit on older style, metal framed windows - usually of single pane glass. These locks will not work with modern vinyl windows, as the vinyl inserts have only a narrow 1/4 in opening. For vinyl windows consider using Prime-Line parts U-9809 or U-10547. Once the lock has been mounted and hand-tightened, finish by tightening thumbscrew with pliers to securely lock windows in closed or ventilating positions. These locks are easy-to-install and are used by many to increase the security of their home.

These locks feature a design that allows them to lock single-hungs, double-hungs and some horizontal sliding windows. Each lock features a cam-type locking mechanism that mounts on the checkrail of the innermost sash and engages into the keeper that mounts onto the checkrail of the outermost sash. The upper, outermost sash on vertical sliding windows determines if it is a "single-hung "A or "double-hung."A If the upper, outermost sash is non-movable, then it is a single-hung window. A "double-hung" A window refers to both sash having the ability to slide up and down for ventilation purposes and these sash locks can fit on both model types, in addition to some left/right horizontal sliding windows. The locks are constructed of die-cast zinc and come in a corrosion-resistant, industry standard, black-painted finish to match other existing hardware that may already be in the home or office. Depending on the size of the sash, these locks can be used as singles or in pairs. Each set includes one lock, one keeper, installation fasteners and simple instructions. Installation of these locks is quick and easy and can be done with a simple handheld Phillips head screwdriver. Other design features include a 5/16 in narrow keeper, cam action fastening and 2-1/4 in mounting hole centers. The H 3539 is a non-handed casement locking handle in an aluminum finish with 2-3/8 in mounting holes. As a universal design, the handle is die-cast construction with the handle hanging straight down and used on many aluminum and steel windows. In addition, there is a 3/16 in security hole that locks the casement lock in place with the 1/8 in S 4071 security pin.
